From Shanghai to New York
Teapulse is the US arm of Jidong, a Shanghai institution that has been steeping tea for nineteen years and now runs more than two thousand shops worldwide. In Mandarin, jidong (悸动) means a racing heartbeat, the pulse of excitement. It is the same pulse the brand asks New York to find.
Nine shops carry that name across the city today, from Flushing and Bayside in Queens to Chinatown, Madison Square Park, and beyond. Every drink is made without artificial additives.
Traditional beverages are the foundation, lemonades, smoothies, boba teas, and coffees, reimagined through modern technique. The signature blends carry the names of their leaves, Jasmine, Osmanthus, Orchid Blanc, Amber Ceylon.
More than a tea atelier, Teapulse calls itself an everyday sweet spot of culture, creativity, and connection. Step out of the rush, connect, and find your pulse.
The landscape is steeping
For a long time, tea in this country meant one of two things, a hot cup or a boba. That understanding is expanding fast. Fruit teas, cheese foams, floral varieties, layered textures, and new flavor pairings are showing people just how wide and creative modern tea can be, and New York is where the widening is happening in public.
Teapulse draws on Chinese and broader Asian tea traditions while building a brand that runs at the city’s pace. In their own words, “our goal has always been to reimagine tea, coffee, and pastries through a contemporary, culturally fluent lens.” Familiar traditions and new influences, put together so they feel fresh, approachable, and part of everyday life.
When Bloomberg covered the new wave of Chinese tea houses arriving in the city, the photographs came from the Koreatown flagship. The team called seeing their drinks, space, and people stand in for that broader evolution “an incredibly meaningful moment for us.”
